Some of the best ideas are born from what's missing.
For us, - Nicole and Justin - that missing piece was a space in Brick, New Jersey where community could truly flourish – where local entrepreneurs could collaborate over expertly crafted coffee, and where someone seeking healing through reiki or sound therapy could find their sanctuary.
Carmela’s Legacy
Carmela's Collective is named after my grandmother, Carmela — though everyone who loves her knows her as Millie. Long before I was born, she ran a luncheonette where everything was homemade, Friday nights had specials, and people didn't just come in to eat — they came in to belong. That warmth, that sense of welcome, that feeling that someone was truly happy you walked through the door — that was Millie.
When my Poppy passed, I was 16. She was 68. And instead of slowing down, she went and got her real estate license. That's who she is.
Today she's 92 now, still sharp as ever, and every single thing about this place is an attempt to honor what she taught me and who she's always been. A gathering place. A safe harbor. A space where people feel seen.
I'm Nicole, and I grew up in my family's business, watching what it means to show up for your community every single day. Carmela's Collective is our version of that. Justin and I built this together, rooted in legacy, built with love, and dedicated to the woman who showed us what's possible.

While we take our coffee seriously, Carmela's Collective was always designed around something bigger. Four pillars to be exact: coffee, community, collaboration, and connections.We love this town, and we wanted to give it something it deserved.
